What was the highlight of Winchester Royal Hotel
I loved the hotel and would stay there again if there was not a single person penalty.
The location, on a spacious historic site right in the town centre was wonderful and visitors could use the generous gardens that are much nicer than the photographs. I really appreciated being able to use the adjacent town car park. I was travelling with my Yorkie, Tiffin, and out of consideration for other visitors we were asked to have breakfast in one of the sitting areas. That meant serving myself from the buffet was a challenge, but a staff member saw my problem and quickly brought me a tray laden with my choices.
I strongly objected to being "fined" for being a single traveller and asked to pay more than the price of two people for, as far as I could tell, the same accommodation.

A convenient sited hotel for visiting Winchester.
The hotel is very well sited for the centre of Winchester and the lady on reception when we arrived and left was especially friendly and efficient. The car parking was easy to find and felt secure.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the pillows not great. The decor was tired.
